Our goal is to promote health, independence and self-sufficiency through individual and community-based educational and wellness programs.
Vision
To be a dynamic, viable, independent not-for-profit home health care organization.

To lead in community skilled health care outcomes preventing institutionalization and avoidable hospitalizations.

To continually explore new services that improve outcomes and support the mission.

To be recognized as the organization for health/wellness and disease prevention.

To be recognized as the branded leader in all our services through disease management programs, data sharing technology, and collaborations to ensure seamless continuum of care.

To be recognized as the employer of choice in skilled health and personal care services.

To engage the community in generating sufficient revenue from philanthropic investments to insure that all patients are served.
History
The Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) was founded in 1909 and incorporated in 1917. It was one of the founding members of the Community Chest (United Way) in 1915 and has received funding from United Way ever since. In 1966, the VNA became one of the first agencies in the nation to be certified under Medicare.

For 100 years the VNA has continued its "Tradition of Caring" to those in need consistent with clinical criteria regardless of their ability to pay. The Visiting Nurse Association is the only free-standing, nonprofit (501C-3) agency remaining in our immediate service area to provide home care to those in need.

For the period 2000 through 2009 the VNA provided 1,214,644 visits to 41,971 unduplicated clients. Our client subsidized care programs, through philanthropic, United Way and other support, permit us to provide care based on clinical needs and not determined by financial limitations. Charity Care for the period of time (2000 - 2009) was $13.7 million.
