Annual Meeting

The VNA hosts an Annual Meeting every year in the fall to update the community, key stakeholders and business partners on the organization’s yearly results, VNA quality outcomes, and transformational initiatives that lie ahead.

2017 Annual Meeting

Our 2017 Annual Meeting will be held on Friday, October 20th from 11:30 until 1:30 at the Cincinnati Woman’s Club located at 330 Lafayette Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45220.

This year our Keynote Speaker will be DIANE SHANK, RN, JD
Diane will discuss “an uncommon curiosity;” an attribute she believes is a most valuable and most underutilized asset available within the healthcare delivery system. Curiosity is inherent to human nature and when fully engaged can make a powerful contribution toward a collaborative, meaningful, high-quality healthcare experience.

Diane Simmons Shank has been a Registered Nurse since 1975 and an attorney practicing in health care since 1989. Early in her legal career, she served in the community as a guardian ad litem at ProKids.  She taught as an Adjunct Professor in The Xavier University Masters of Healthcare Administration Program and trained at The Program on Negotiation at The Harvard Law School.

Her scope of healthcare practice concentrates on hospital, nursing and physician risk management. In this capacity, she has provided legal advice to healthcare providers, investigated medical errors, settled and defended medical malpractice claims.  She enjoys teaching communication skills, medical law and healthcare safety concepts to healthcare administrators, frontline providers, and healthcare students.

Most recently, her practice is focused on sharing the empowering and expanding role of health care advocates.  This interest evolved after her own near death medical experience, which was preceded by the loss of a close family member who died because of a simple medication error.   Her investigation of these events revealed that advocates with a questioning mind could have intercepted and prevented the medical harm that occurred in her family, as well as in many of the medical malpractice cases she professionally reviewed.  Since then she has chosen to concentrate her practice on sharing the pearls of wisdom she has gained both personally and professionally.

Proceeds from the Annual Meeting fund community based in-home healthcare services throughout Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. If you are interested in being a sponsor for the 2017 Caring Awards, please contact Donna Damon at ddamon@thevna.org or 513-345-8038.
