Ask for the VNA!
When you choose a home health
agency the first question you
should ask yourself is who can I
trust to provide high quality care
with the most compassionate care
possible? After all, when it
comes to receiving
home care and
private duty
services you are inviting
caregivers into your home. Here
at the VNA we take that invitation
very seriously.
In
1909, we began serving Cincinnati
and since then our
service area has
grown to include coverage for
Northern Kentucky,
Butler and Warren
Counties. With over 119,00 patient visits each year we are one of the largest
home care agencies in our area
maintaining individual patient
care with one-on-one personalized
customized attention.

Patient Satisfaction is Key to Our
Success
Every patient receives a telephone
call within 24 hours of referral
because we want to know what we
can do to make his or her
experience with us better and we
want to know how we are doing.
99.6% of our patients say they
would likely use the VNA again or
would refer someone they love to
us. That’s how much they trust us
with their healthcare. Read the
VNA mission very closely because
the staff lives it everyday so
that people in our community can
stay at home. 119,000 home visits
in 2006. That’s about 327 a
day. Many of those visits
were made to patients with no
family in our area. No support
system to speak of. No family
physician on record either –
literally no one to turn to other
than an Emergency Room for medical
care. Some fortunate patients
have family members to assist them
and still need the VNA to help
regain their independence or in
some cases, completely enable them
to have an ordinary, simple day
you might take for granted.
Doris
R. doesn’t say, “I can’t” any
more! After a stroke left her
right side affected four years
ago, she really didn’t use much of
her body. But after working with
a VNA Occupational Therapist she
learned to use her hospital bed
and her special dinner plate, as
well as a few tricks of the
trade. Now she is looking forward
to the next phase of her life.
She’s not losing her balance as
much as she used to so she can get
in and out of bed. She’s also
able to feed herself, dress
herself and with the assistance of
an aide, she can bathe herself.
Doris has a smile that lights up
a room and now, she has more
reasons to do so!
54-year-old Sally G. is a
great example of how working with
a VNA Occupational Therapist and a
Physical Therapist has completely
turned her life around for the
better. She has an inoperable
brain tumor that originally left
her unable to do most tasks around
the house. After a short time in
therapy she gleefully is able to
stand, bath & dress herself -and
can even cook breakfast under the
watchful eyes of her daughter.
Terry
B. suffered two strokes
while at work but like most
53-year-old men longs to stay in
total control of his life. With
the assistance of a VNA aide who
comes to his home once a week to
help with basic household chores,
he is able to stay independent and
in his own apartment. Now, he not
only beats his brother in a not so
friendly game of cards, but Terry is
also considered to
be a real flirt, so watch out
ladies!
Daisy P. is one of the
youngest 99-year-old women anyone
will ever meet; full of fabulous
stories of adventure. Before
raising her own family, she cared
for young children for a living,
and she says she was lucky enough
to travel with them, becoming one
of the first African American
women from the Cincinnati area to
travel on the Queen Mary. Decades
later she finds herself in need of
our care.
Twelve years ago Sharon S.
was diagnosed with Multiple
Sclerosis. Today, at 61, she is
confined to her bed in a home her
three children built for her.
It’s close enough for her friends
to drop by and watch “American
Idol” and for her grandchildren to
bake cookies the old fashioned way
courtesy of Pillsbury and Kroger’s
Dairy Department. If it wasn’t
for your support and the VNA
helping Sharon four days a week
she wouldn’t be able to stay at
home. For this she is eternally
thankful. You have given her the
ability to be home.
Real people in our community who
benefit everyday when the staff of
the VNA come to their homes.
327 times a day. 365
days a year.
As
Leaders in Technology
the VNA offers new tools to enable
patients to live independently in
their own homes such as in-home
Digital EKG,
Portable PT/INR immediate results
capability and Wound V.A.C.
Our Board of Trustees is a
voluntary local group of leading
citizens including three
physicians. They are responsible
for the overall quality of care,
program and financial review.
